1.Why do we need the medical bus?
The medical bus is a very great progress in medical area.
Medical bus is a mobile hospital, the CT machine is inside the bus, it can be travel around from place to place. People in remote place can enjoy using the same CT machine, they don’t need to travel to a long place just for the medical reason.
In general, people in remote area, the medical cost is high.
This is because their care is interrupted, letting issues grow more severe without proper medical intervention.
The medical bus allowing patients to not worry about how to get to the hospital. The bus get to their place and allowing them to access the healthcare they need.
Over time, the medical bus leads to longer life expectancy and better quality of life, reducing medical costs.

2.What appliance in the medical bus?
In our 80kw UPS system medical bus, there are a CT machine and 4set air conditioners, one computer, and some lights.
The CT machine max power 50KW, and here is the data sheet for the CT machine.

And the air conditioner is 1HP, one set in the waiting area, one set in the monitoring station, and the other is in the CT machine area. The power is supply by the UPS system.

3.Why the medical bus needs a UPS system?
The bus battery not enough supply power to the CT machine. It’s need an extra battery for the CT machine, also a inverter to supply AC power via the DC power from battery.
Because the battery is DC current, the appliances cannot use DC current directly. And the inverter is to transfer the DC current from battery to AC current.

The CT machine is three phase, max power 50kw. It needs stable power to drive the machine. If the power not stable, the CT machine won’t work and it may damage the machine.
That’s why the medical bus needs a UPS system with pure sine wave inverter to supply the power. Our three phase inverter is equip with big transformer, it can supply stable power and the 4ms transfer time from city grid to the battery mode.
4.How the UPS system work in the medical bus?

80KW pure sine wave inverter

The inverter has 220V output terminal and 380V output terminal.
When there are city gird to supply power to the CT machine:

The city grid will work bypass to the CT machine, and charge the battery at the same time.
What does bypass means? It means the city grid will supply power directly, not through the inverter. And what power city grid input, the same for output.
But if the city grid not stable, the output will not stable.
So when the city grid not stable, the inverter will switch to use the battery power.

The DC current from battery will invert into stable AC current via the inverter.
In this working mode, it will increase the lithium battery working time. Because if there are stable city grid input, the city grid will work bypass, not use the lithium battery power.
And if some place city grid not stable, the inverter will switch to use the battery power.

And the screen will show the working status, how many % battery left.
If the city grid not stable, cannot use directly, and the battery power not enough. The doctors will use the city grid to charge the battery and use the CT machine at the same time.
Lithium battery
The lithium battery bank power is 384V 150Ah.
Battery management system (BMS) is technology dedicated to the oversight of a battery pack, which is an assembly of battery cells, electrically organized in a row x column matrix configuration to enable delivery of targeted range of voltage and current for a duration of time against expected load scenarios.
There are BMS system outside the lithium battery cabinet. BMS stands for battery monitor system, its a small computer, which showing the all the lithium battery information. Like the voltage, current, capacity, and the cycle time and each cell status.
We will know which cell have problem if any abnormal things happen.
And also for the BMS system, there are overload and over discharge warming for the battery. And we can see the charging current and voltage and discharging current and voltage from the BMS system.
Which you can see the charging voltage and discharging voltage
8 units inside the cabinet.
And the 8units connect in series, and the cable is for communication, and show the data to the BMS system screen.
The BMS system will drive down overall costs, including those related to the warranty.
How many hour can the lithium battery last?
The lithium battery capacity is 380V 150Ah, capacity is
It can supply to the 50kw CT machine works
The lithium battery can supply the CT machine work for 1.2hrs if fully charge.
Why do we use lithium battery instead of gel battery?
Because the medical bus only 10 meters, the space is very limited. If we put on the gel battery, it will need 32pcs 150Ah gel battery to work as 384V 150Ah capacity. It will need a large space for the gel battery.
But the medical bus is only 10 meters, it do not have enough space to put on all the gel batteries.

Gel battery cannot 100% discharge. But lithium battery can be 100% discharge.

Gel battery max discharge current is smaller than the lithium battery.
For the medical bus, it will require a very large discharge current from the battery to supply power to the CT machine.
That’s why we use the lithium battery than the gel battery
5.Why they choose InkPV UPS system for the medical car?
Actually this is a long story but not so long. InkPV supply the UPS system to their hospital for over 8years. And we send engineers to the hospital each year to test the UPS system. Because the city grid is very stable in the hospital, the UPS system is for back up and barely use for one time for each year.

That’s why the battery still can be used after 8 years, and still can be used for many year in the future.

6.Can we add solar panel to the top of medical bus?

Yes, we can place the solar panel on the top of the medical bus. Because the bus top is flat, we can place few panels on it. And put up the MPPT charge controller to control power from the solar panel, in case the lithium battery is over charged. But right now they don’t need solar panels. Because the city grid can meet their need. No need extra solar panel.
Any way, if they want to put up the solar panel in the future, we will support them with that.
Actually this is a very good idea for putting solar panels on the top of the bus. In the good weather, the solar panel can charge the battery, reduce the CO2.
7.Why we use low frequency inverter for the medical bus?
This is very funny, because high frequency inverter can be parallel. And the big power is 5kw, max for 6set in parallel. That’s mean the biggest size is 5kw*6=30KW. They cannot supply power to the CT machine.

And high frequency inverter cannot supply power to appliance which have motor inside. That’s means air conditioner, pumps and other appliances, cannot drive by the high frequency inverter.
Even some high frequency inverter output is pure sine wave, but they cannot handle the industrial machine.
High frequency inverter is single phase, cannot supply power to three phase machine.
And low frequency inverter has big transformer, it’s really big and heavy. The transformer make sure stable output and handle the industrial machine.
High frequency may have small transformer, but is not enough stable for the CT machine.
But high frequency inverter price is really good, and can be parallel for 6sets. That’s why high frequency inverter is common seen in the market.
But for home use, we still suggest to use low frequency inverter, because low frequency inverter not easy broken, you don’t have to waste your time and money for the after sell problem.
